Apple removes MT4 and MT5 from App Store

In what appears to be retaliation for an alleged act of help the CEO of MetaQuotes has given Russian oligarchs in moving funds out of Russia, the MetaTrader MT4 and MT5 platform has been removed from the Apple iOS store. Android users can still access the platform via mobile.

MT4 and MT5 banned from App Store

To the shock of traders, Apple and MetaQuotes have remained mum about why these trading apps mysteriously disappeared from the Apple App Store. This sudden vanishing act has left traders in a state of perplexity.
The app versions of the popular PC electronic trading platforms are provided by MetaQuotes Software Corp., a Russian software company, although it has later moved its registration offshore to Cyprus.

MetaQuotes Software Corp., the brains behind MT4 and MT5, originally hailed from Russia but later shifted its registration to Cyprus. This geographical shuffle added a layer of complexity to the situation, raising questions about geopolitical influences on Apple’s move.

MT4, released in 2005, predated its successor, MT5, which arrived in 2009 with expanded trading instrument support. Astonishingly, even as trading evolved, MT4 continued to reign supreme. It was the world’s most favoured trading platform as of September 2019.

As traders anxiously await further revelations about this unexpected twist, one thing remains clear: the trading realm is a dynamic landscape susceptible to unforeseen shifts. While the reasons behind Apple's abrupt removal of MT4 and MT5 apps remain veiled in secrecy, the trading community, as always, will adapt to new challenges and opportunities in this ever-changing environment.
