The Commitments of Traders (CoT) widget provides a clear, graphical representation of the weekly CoT reports published by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). These reports show the number of contracts, including the sum of traders’ long and short positions in the futures market. Data are typically released on Fridays at 19:30 GMT summer time / 20:30 GMT winter time, and represent positions at the opening of the previous Tuesday.

Based on the Currency Futures report, this widget shows long, short, and net positions of not-for-profit traders, such as wealth managers, hedge funds, and derivatives dealers.

The Cot charts show only the base currency. So, for example, the EUR chart shows EUR/USD futures data. Currencies available in the widget include Euro (EUR), Pound (GBP), Yen (JPY), Swiss Franc (CHF), Canadian (CAD), Australian (AUD), and New Zealand (NZD) dollars.

Forex traders can gain valuable insights from Cot charts, which can help them:

• Reversing overall positioning to identify trends.

• Determine the strength of trends through changes in total subscriptions,

• Recognize market reversals through extreme positioning. (source Dukascopy)
